About Me

Who am I?

A guy who loves cycling since he was 5 years old. That is when I’ve got my first bicycle – a shining white race bike. That’s what I thought at the time at least. Then there were many bikes and other disciplines on the way, fascination with mountain biking, bike touring, crossfit, weight lifting, etc.

And then reality kicked in when I moved to Austria some years ago. Mountains, mountains everywhere… and some mountains lurking behind them probably too. Don’t get me wrong – I love them! But for a person from a flat piece of land they make quite a challenge when moving from point A to point B even. 7% incline here, 12% there, an occasional 16% in the middle of any longer ride can make a big difference in your riding comfort. Especially if those stretch for longer than 100 meters.

One option would be to guide your routes in the shadow of the valleys only, taking a bus or a train to a more flat part of the world, or get yourself an electric bike. But there is a third way – put your s*it together and train until you will be on top of each hill in the neightbourhood faster than your very best cycling colleague. But not as fast as your girlfriend on an e-bike! There has to be balance in this world in the end.

The plan for me will be to improve the engine that powers these two wheels on 25mm tires. To shed some weight so that on the next climb I will have to take with me less unneccesary luggage. And most of all – to have fun while riding up and down.

Genuine, still wild cycling amateur in his natural habitat

You will find here my struggles with pushing my body a bit harder than the usual weekend cyclist. A lot of mistakes, analyses, progress, regress, interesting ideas and bad decisions. And everything tested in the field – sometimes on an home trainer, sometimes in the natural environment – on the road.
